The app, StockLight 2.0, provides self-directed investors with digital access to company information including charts, announcements, research and recommendations.

StockLight founder Jason Kotchoff said: “By providing access to quality market research in such an accessible medium, we are helping to put the power back into the hands of the investing public.”

Referring to a study by the ASX, StockLight indicated that 55 per cent of self-directed investors said they don't have enough knowledge of the sharemarket.

The study also found that 37 per cent of Australian investors use internet-based information sources when making decisions to trade.

Mr Kotchoff said the app will provide self-directed investors with access to essential market research through an accessible medium.
